CSTM Toronto 2022   Getting Started

No matter where you're from or who you are, you're welcome in Toronto.

This is a city that thrives as the entertainment, cultural, business, sports and tech capital of Canada – and events in this city come alive because of it.  We can't wait to showcase everything that Toronto has to offer when you are here.

As the country's largest and most-visited destination, Toronto is the front door to a nation where more than half of us were born outside of Canada.  With more than 230 nationalities and 200 languages and dialects, Toronto has been named the most multicultural city in the world by the BBC.  You'll experience this acclaimed cultural vibrancy through the city's cuisine, art, shopping and especially the locals that liven up the streets.  Toronto passionately embraces its diversity, reflective of Canada's rich tapestry.

Welcome to Toronto!

First, walk up and down Queens Quay.  Here you will find restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream, shopping, art galleries.  Turn left or right out of the hotel (circled) and enjoy the walk.

Turn left out of the hotel to walk West.  At the foot of Lower Simcoe you will find Harbourfront Centre, and close by, the Power Plant if you are in the mood for some modern art.  Continue walking along Queens Quay, and in a few minutes look to your left toward the lake and you'll see yellow umbrellas peeping over the hill.  This is HtO Beach.  You can walk along the boardwalk or plop down in one of the Muskoka chairs and put your toes in the sand.

The next stop on your journey westward just past the Spadina Wavedeck is the Toronto Music Garden.   Designed in collaboration with famed cellist, Yo Yo Ma, and described as "magical", the park is inspired by Bach' First Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, with each dance movement corresponding to a different section of the garden.  Wander through the gardens or pause on the tiered seating on the hill to gaze out on the lake.  Turn around and take a leisurely walk back to the hotel.  On the way back, stop for an ice cream or a beavertail.

If you choose to turn left as you leave the hotel, it's a bit more industrial, but just across the slip you'll find the adorable, and decidedly urban Sugar Beach.  Pink umbrellas and Muskoka chairs dot the man-made beach where you can sit and enjoy the view.
